Whether you’re watching on a TV or streaming online, HD movies provide sharper images and immersive experiences that make for the ultimate movie viewing experience. The clarity of HD also delivers a fuller spectrum of colors, resulting in lifelike visuals and immersing you more fully into the story.

You can find HD movies on Blu-ray Discs and through streaming services like Netflix or Disney+.

Inside Out 2

The most watched movie in 2024, Inside Out 2 is a funny, touching and occasionally emotionally impactful sequel to the 2016 Oscar-winning animated film. It introduces Riley’s new gaggle of emotions—Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Embarrassment (Ayo Edebiri), and more—while revisiting some old neural pathways. It may not rank among Pixar’s very best, but it is a spirited follow-up that shows the studio can still captivate viewers of all ages.

Compared to standard definition, HD movies offer higher resolution and a wider aspect ratio, creating a more immersive viewing experience. They also support a wider range of colors, resulting in richer and more lifelike visuals. HD formats also often feature Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound, enhancing the audio and immersing you deeper into the movie’s world.

To watch Inside Out 2 in high definition, you need a device with a widescreen display that supports the HD format. Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu offer a variety of HD titles, as do some cable and satellite providers. You can also purchase HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Some stores sell individual HD movies, while others sell them in collections or as part of a subscription service. You can also buy or rent digital copies of HD movies from online retailers and from some streaming services, including Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu, and YouTube.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Three years after GvsK Godzilla and Kong return in this sequel that expands on the character of King Kong and develops him as a fully-fledged, three-dimensional, and independent creature. The film also continues to develop Godzilla as a more than just a giant ape, showing him as the awe-inspiring beast of myth and legend he has always been.

Considering the nature of this franchise, it isn’t hard to imagine that some viewers are going to find Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire a bit of a letdown. While it certainly doesn’t reach the heights of the previous film, it still provides plenty of entertainment. And, thanks to a reference-quality 4K Blu-ray presentation and a solid supplemental set, this movie will be an essential addition to any Godzilla fan’s library.

As with most of Legendary’s MonsterVerse films, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire pushes the boundaries of suspension of disbelief further than most. But, director Adam Wingard manages to make the wild plot about two of cinema’s most famous monsters battling against a colossal threat to Earth surprisingly entertaining. And, it helps that the movie is a lot of fun.

The film follows some time after the events of GvsK as Godzilla and Kong establish themselves in their respective territories in Hollow Earth. A Monarch observation outpost detects an unexplained signal from inside the planet, which leads Dr. Ilene Andrews and her adopted daughter Jia to suspect something catastrophic is on the horizon. Meanwhile, Kong tries to keep the peace between humankind and giant monsters (known as Titans) by killing Titanus Scylla in Rome before taking a nap in the Colosseum.

The film is a blast to watch, with the visuals in 4K looking stunning and the soundtrack and special effects providing the perfect amount of escapism. And, the DVD and Blu-ray come with a healthy collection of bonus features that cover the film’s conception and production. And, while some of them may be a little too blatantly promotional (including an interview with Millie Bobby Brown), they all provide plenty of insight into this unique take on the Toho universe.

Poor Things

Poor Things is a bizarre take on Frankenstein that was released in 2024. It was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who previously helmed The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and The Favourite. The movie stars Emma Stone as the resurrected Bella Baxter, who struggles to figure out what it means to be a woman. She also encounters several men along the way, who help her discover herself and become the best version of herself.

Poor Things was a hit at the box office and earned several awards wins, including four Oscars and two Golden Globes. Emma Stone won the award for best actress in a leading role, while the film also won awards for costume design, production design, and makeup and hairstyling. It was the first film to win all four of those categories since Birdman in 2015.

Yorgos Lanthimos and Tony McNamara adapted the screenplay from Alasdair Gray’s novel. They focused the story on Bella, who is resurrected by her creator Dr. Godwin Baxter. She spends the next few years under his guardianship, but eventually escapes to live her life on her own. The film stars Mark Ruffalo as Duncan Wedderbum, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Godwin, and Ramy Youssef as Max McCandles. It also features Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, and Jerrod Carmichael.

It is important to note that Poor Things is rated R and contains scenes of gore, graphic nudity, strong language, and disturbing material. This makes it a good choice for adults, but it may be inappropriate for children under the age of 17. You can watch this film online for free with Hulu or you can buy it on DVD and Blu-ray.

Poor Things has climbed to 53rd on the JustWatch Daily Streaming Charts today, ahead of Abigail and Tombstone. It has gained 19 spots in the last day, and it is currently more popular than Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Favourite. It is a surreal, dark science fiction movie that has received positive reviews from critics.
